For the first time the use of company vehicles can be monitored properly: AS Haljas marketing manager Aare Piik was commenting on GPS based vehicle tracking system called Navirec, offered by Tracking Center OÜ. Aare Piik said that when the representative from Navirec came to introduce the system in the end of last year, he didn´t believe it could be useful, but agreed to test the system on 2 of his vehicles. “I believed my sales people were working very efficiently as they often said in meetings they´ve had a hard day.” said Piik, “The results of the first week were depressing! Some people didn´t go to work at all, some took days off and some went home after lunch. Sometimes they visited a shop for just couple of minutes, although they should spend there half an hour tidying the shelves and checking which goods should be reordered.” After they had seen what was happening, they installed Navirec to all of their sales people´s cars. “For this sort of information 500 kroons per car and couple of thousands per device is a very cheap price. We earned that money back in couple of months”, said Piik. In future AS Haljas is planning to put in use all the info they are getting from the system. Mostly there is data about trips, distances and fuel, which is perfect for automatically filling the driver´s diaries. “The manual filling of the diaries should be much reduced.” He also mentioned the recorded data is much more accurate than the written data of the drivers. Priit Puskar, the sales manager of Tracking Center, said that all the data is available online for the clients and they can see the vehicles moving in real time or browse the recorded statistics. As the result of this sort of statistics, their clients are able to put their vehicles into more efficient use. He added that if the clients should just want the coordinates of the vehicles, they are able to deliver it to them as raw data also. “Often our clients just want to know how accurate is the information that their employees tell them.” Piik mentioned that another very useful function is that they can analyse the areas separately: “It may happen that two cars are operating in more or less same area, so we can direct one of them to another area and so save on fuel and working hours.” Source: http://www.aripaev.ee/3659/rubr_artiklid_365906.html
